Yellowball Foundation – The story so far.
Fit For Sport (FFS) and Founder, Dean Horridge, have been engaging and educating children through physical activity for 25 years and, since inception, have provided free access to school holiday camps for underprivileged children. Dean was himself a recipient of financial and moral support and this early philanthropic intervention has driven his determination to provide the same transformational opportunities for children today, via Yellowball Foundation.
Last year FFS:
• engaged over 250,000 children through multi-activity sessions
• sponsored over 115 underprivileged children at its Activity Clubs & Camps
• delivered over 20,000 hours of activity programmes to these children
Yellowball Foundation was set up in 2007 to further the mission of offering disadvantaged children access to a brighter & healthier future. The Foundation funds free access to healthy, active programmes to those least able to afford them. These inspire achievable, sustainable fitness and highlight healthy lifestyles, helping children develop essential social and physical skills, to build confidence and reach their potential.
Historically, Yellowball Foundation has benefited from donations from FFS campers, fundraising events and individual donors to support its mission. Last year’s mountain climb event raised a further £22,000; this alone translates to 4,500 hours of free access to clubs and camps for children. To date, FFS has donated an additional place for every child Yellowball Foundation funds at its Activity Clubs and Camps and the Trustees are determined to support more children by partnering with new donors and supporting organisations.
Donors at all levels can make a huge difference; just £5 enables a child to attend a Breakfast, or After School Club. As well as getting children off to a healthy start, or being able to play safely at the end of school, this provides a massive help for predominantly single parents and carers, many of whom are battling to juggle parenting with work or job-seeking. Additional sponsorship will also enable Yellowball Foundation to support teens and young adults with fitness training courses and qualifications that will help keep future generations active.
We believe our model of raising money, finding partners and providing access to healthy clubs to disadvantaged children and young adults, can deliver huge benefits in both the short and long term. We hope you agree and will pledge your support.
